Hangin’ With The Experts

29|
February
2012 | 6:31 am

In my work with Von Gutenberg not only am I around our beautiful models, learning the ins and outs of latex (and how to help women in and out of it), setting-up background and lights, but I get to watch amazing craftspeople work on make-up and hair.

One of these amazing craftspeople is Gina Novotchin.

I’ve met Gina now a handle of times, watching her conduct what seems like alchemy to me, making-up our models, French-twisting hair, running in and out of shots to touch-up and pat down, and offering some marquis modeling instructions (as well as being a master hair/make-up artist Gina also taught modeling). But what struck me beyond the lady’s artistry-and how cool a hang she is (really you got to be as super cool and talented to hang with us)-was when we sat around jawing about skin care, what to do and not to do with the products you buy, and what it is all about with the science of what is happening with your skin. Like most people I know there is lots going on in our body processes but Gina had the skinny about what our faces go through and I really sat there fascinated soaking it all up.

You can see Gina’s work in many places (she just came from working NYC’s infamous Fashion Week), in our issue #6 (as well as other issues of ours), she’s worked with Pink, Drew Carey and The Red Hot Chilli Peppers   and in T.V. and movies (you might even meet her at a kinky event or two) and can certainly check-her out here at : http://www.modelmayhem.com/51701

You could fill volumes with what I don’t know, a fact I revel in. Sure I am learning more every day, as I guess we all do, or at least trying to. But you get to a certain age and you realize that there is just some stuff you’re never going to know.

It sure is fun to be around an expert like Gina.

Warming-Up My Fingers And Tapping My Toes

24|
February
2012 | 7:56 am

So a-lubing is upon me once again.

Yes kiddies, I once more have to Agent sully forth into the breach, Chip-and-Dale to those foreign battlements, tuck under and up for the monumentally difficult job of spilling copious amounts of gloppy lube into my hot palms and through my soft long fingers (and you know what they say about a guy who has long fingers right?…he wears big gloves) and apply my expertise to making shiny some new Von Gutenberg models.

I recall well that day our intrepid CEO suggested I might help in this enterprise, only a lowly writer I was at at that time, light-shy from my days spent hunched over my lap-top, ignorant to the curves and byways of the female form, nervous even to contemplate those curvy downy ways and deep puckering welcomes. But after much cajoling, a good pizza and my resolute resolution to take one for the team-VG I shucked down my man skirt and agreed that yes, I would be the marquis luber and do all I could to make the experience as painless as possible for myself.

That the first go-round of ladies were so kind only made my experiences with each a joy. I have related my times with Goddess Deanna Storm, Miss Mischief and MiMi Cherry, how each were a wonder to behold and hold and how my nervousness was bested by their professionalism. Yes, I muddled through as best I could and came out the other end my hands a little cramped but my confidence the better for the experience.

So soon once more into the breach my fellow latex loving comrades, my fellow kink event participants, Von Gutenberg friends one and all. Say a prayer for your warrior friend Ralph not to falter on his way to lands unknown, furrows firm and expanses slippery. Come hell or high water like modern-age, long-haired Magellan I shall return to regale you my triumphs.

So, Let Me Tell You About Bianca Beauchamp

22|
February
2012 | 7:25 am

Sorry to say I am not available for every shoot we do at Von Gutenberg. Yes, I jump at the opportunity to interview our captivating ladies in person (oh yeah, to lube them too, I almost forgot about the lubing…tee hee) Though I had the pleasure in issue # 6 to feast my eyes upon, in person, the incredible woman-ness that is Mimi Cherry, Deanna Storm and Miss Mischief, I did not enjoy that same pleasure with Bianca Beauchamp.

But this doesn’t mean I like the lady any less.

Bianca, like our cover girl Mimi, is a Canadian lady. She was the first model to dedicate her whole web site-Bianca’s Latex Lair-to latex fetish erotica, has worked with Playboy and has hosted fetish events in the U.S. U.K., Germany and Montreal. In her photo shoot for us she wore fashions from Westward Bound, Polymorphe and HWD Design and wore them so well her pictures are incindiary! If you have yet to see them, might I refer you to pick-up the marquis latex lifestyle magazine (if I might be so bold to say) here.

If you would like to explore the world Bianca Beauchamp, you can do so here: www.biancabeauchamp.com.

Out and About

17|
February
2012 | 7:35 am

So I find myself once again doing that “step into my office” thing here at my local Starbucks®, this early am…ah the life of a freelance writer…looking at all the peeps coming in for their morning over-priced Joe. Clearing my head from a busy week, I do like to get out and about and the weather here has been unseasonable warm for us this time of year so here I be checking-in for my end-of-the-week Von Gutenberg missive and it puts me in mind of…

The NYC Cinekink Festival was held this past week. It celebrates a wide range of naughty films, from the short erotic to the longer kinky ones. Hit their website http://cinekink.com/ to check it all out. For us ‘alternative’ minded, it is one great time and the festival plays across the country at major cities all during the year.

Our Fantasy Even List. I link the FEL Twitter page every blog now but what I don’t always do is speak about it; I am adding kinky events on an almost daily basis. Check-out our calendar http://www.fantasyeventlist.com/, I am sure there is something happening in a city near you.

Just hanging. Not every place you go, all the people you meet and everything you get into is going to be a marquis happening, but like I am here at the Starbucks-which is filling with so many people now, is everybody a super-hip legend-in-his-own-mind writer like me?-we got to get our asses up off the couch, snuggle into our panties-man/woman both-get off the fucking cult-of-a-Facebook (and yes we have a Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/#!/groups/261144418631/ too, I am biting the hand that feeds I know) and get out and about, even if the traffic gets to us and lots of us human beings are an impolite bunch (like this guy next to me bleating too loudly over his cell phone while I try to write this all-important Von Gutenberg blog. Jesus doesn’t he know who I am?!)

But really I’ll take out and about over in and ruminating any day!

Giving The Finger For Art

15|
February
2012 | 5:40 am

You know me, I like to champion the Von Gutenberg extended family when I get the chance…and we have lots of people in the family (if you’re not part of this marquis club, join us at the Von Gutenberg Facebook Fan Page here:http://www.facebook.com/#!/groups/261144418631/). One of the folks/friends/fans/professionals featured in our latest issue is none other then writer M. Christian. Chris (to his friends, and who isn’t Chris’s friend, the guy is just so damn likeable!) is having fun prompting his latest book, Fingers’ Breadth.

I’ll let Chris tell you what’s he’s up to in his own imitable style. According to the latest PRESS RELEASE:

In what is clearly an act of pure desperation, author M. Christian has threatened to amputate part of one finger to publicize his new novel, Finger’s Breadth (Zumaya Books).

“The fact is, it’s getting harder and harder to get the word out about anything new, especially novels,” says M. Christian, whose biography includes over 400 short story sales, nine author collections, the editing of 25 anthologies, and six previous novels.  ”Is it no surprise that writers are having to resort to obvious stunts to try and get their work noticed?”

When asked if the planned amputation is simply a publicity stunt, Christian responded with faux outrage: “A stunt?  A STUNT?!  Of course it’s a publicity stunt … these days writers have to be creative and, let’s be honest here, more than a bit outrageous if they are going to get noticed.  The book’s about a mysterious figure cutting off the tips of little fingers in a near-future noir San Francisco so a pretend self-amputation is just too damned perfect!”

No I know Chris, he’s one of those guys you would as much see at any of the industries fantasy events (listed on our Fantasy Even List at Twitter) as you would sit down and have over-priced eggs with. When it comes to what he is capable of you better believe as sure-as-shootin’ that those damn Zanti Misfits we’re gonna crawl up ol’ Bruce Dern’s leg, Chris has got enough other appendages (and the story is quite a few are very impressive…if you know what I mean) to not miss a digit or two in the selling of his art.
If you’re up for a good read check out Finger’s Breadth here:
Paperback: $15.99
ebook: $6.99
You can reach  M. Christian at his website: http://www.mchristian.com

The Amazing Mr. Richard Knightly

10|
February
2012 | 4:03 am

Here at Von Gutenberg we boast some marquis fetish photographers in house, but we also welcome and champion some wonderfully erotic stuff from others the world over. Really, the magazine has been built as much on our readership, models and designers as it has been-and will continue to be-with the wonderful contributors we have in our writers, photographers and artists.

In issue 6 we are proud to present a resplendent 8-page spread of Richard Knightly pictures.

Mr. Knightly meshes advertising styles with fantasy art with the traditional to create one-of-a-kind photos. Posing his models in their amazing latex outfits and picking the often wild places he chooses to shoot in (in issue 6 Mr. K. describes shooting at the Alps, among other incredible spots) truly make the man’s photos in our latest issue more like single page fetish events! Using muse/girlfriend/collaborator Emma Alexa-and you will see her in lots of the pictures we feature in Richard’s expose’-Mr. Knightly reveals why he is indeed one of the top photographers in his field, a field that stretches from fetish to fashion to panoramas…and beyond.

You can check-out Mr. Knightly’s work here:

http://richardknightly.com/

and of course in our issue #6 here: http://www.vongutenberg.com/shop

Meet Goddess Deanna Storm

8|
February
2012 | 5:05 am

We here at Von Gutenberg are tickled pink sometimes a full blushed red, (it depends on how hard that whip is falling across our…) for all the great people we get to work with. I have already told you about lots of them, especially the folks in our new issue #6. Designers, writers, photographers and our wonderful models all; I am honored to have worked with all these wonderfully talented folks and look forward to continuing to do so.

Now I have introduced you to the models we shot, at least with a preliminary essay about when I met the women to lube them (a tough job as I have said before, but one I suffer through) and in these past few weeks with more recent pieces of our cover girl MiMi Cherry and the provocative Miss Mischief. This week may I introduce you (well actually reintroduce you to) to Goddess Deanna Storm, our raven-haired hottie of issue 6?

Wearing a number of her own designs from The Storm Collection, created by Nemy of Latex Nemesis for lots of her pics in issue #6 you will see why Deanna Storm wears the title of Goddess well. An articulate woman who was gentle with me in ways I cannot begin to describe (she was the very first girl I lubed…well, at least for a magazine shoot) Deanna was a delight to behold, hold, hang with and lace-up. Deanna was actually the one who gave me the idea for the name of the band in my two stories in issue #6, Latex Camel Toe, as she joked about just that during her shoot (something I had to keep a keen eye on…another tough job to be sure).

So where might you see/find Goddess Deanna Storm? Well of course she adorns our Von Gutenberg #6 and that can be found here: http://www.vongutenberg.com/shop as well as here: www.goddessdeannastorm.blogspot.com

So You Want To Flirt?

3|
February
2012 | 4:59 am

If you’re looking to flirt I double-dog dare you to find a better two-page article about this ancient art of interpersonal play then Erik and my “Flirt Tips-From Flirt To Sex…In One Night?” in issue number 6 of Von Gutenberg magazine (see it’s not all just about the latex and the girls!). We run the gambit in our suggestions from ‘Stimulate their mind: Inspire for more’ ‘Imitating: To copy what he or she is “doing”’ and the ever dangerous but oh-so-effective ‘Flirt with others: Seek out your intended’s friends’.

According to the almighty Wikipedia flirting is “…a playful, romantic, or sexual overture by one person to another subtly indicating an interest in a deeper relationship with the other person, and can involve verbal communication as well as body language.” I just know it is a damn well fun way to spend one’s time and might lead to a little bumpy-bumpy at the end of the night if one plays their cards right and keeps to our rules.

The way Erik and I see it, Cosmo and Vogue can dispense their top ten lists like “How To Be His Wild Harlot In Bed” and the “5 Things Men Really Wish You’d Do With Your Mouth” so why can’t we offer our own Von Gutenberg advice, lists and questionnaires, as we did so in issue 5 with our “How Kinky Are You?” test? We view Von Gutenberg magazine, as much as we do all the various sites, like our kinky event listing Fantasy Event List and everywhere else within the brand as maintaining a high marquis water-mark in the lifestyle and want to entertain, inform and always maintain a dialogue with you our close friends and loyal readers.

So pick up issue #6 here http://www.vongutenberg.com/shop, get your flirting groove on and thank Erik and I when you’re not knee-deep in more dates then you know what to do with!

Steampunk-ed Ya

1|
February
2012 | 5:36 am

In the wonderful text of our wonderful issue #6 (and I can say it’s wonderful as I had a direct hand in the text of issue 6) we have covered a lot of ground with our studies and even fiction centered round all things comic-al. We have M. Christian and Midori weighing-in with non-fiction ruminations, a couple of stories featuring the same characters-a continuing comic story without pictures-(one by me solo and another in collaboration with Tom Kennedy) and lots of other stuff that speaks to our theme (not to mention the sketches by Chainsaw Chuck, Armando Huerta and others).

We also have a little look-see page and blurb from the recently released Steampunk Gear, Gadgets and Gizmos: A Makers Guide to Creating Modern Artifacts, by Thomas Willeford. What’s Steampunk, you ask? Well culling a definition from the website http://www.steampunk.com we learn Steampunk is a ‘subgenre of science fiction and fantasy that includes social or technological aspects of the 19th century (the steam) usually with some deconstruction of, reimagining of, or rebellion against parts of it (the punk).’ In Steampunk stuff, as you will find readily in Mr. Willeford’s how-to book, there is a goodly amount of attention paid to clothes and gadgets, something we in the lifestyle are well aware of, and a certain swashbuckling-dare I say-sensibility, that fits in well with our comic’s issue.

We are tickled pink to include a piece about this McGraw-Hill paperback in Von Gutenberg #6 and you can buy the book here: http://www.amazon.com/Steampunk-Gear-Gadgets-Gizmos-Artifacts/dp/0071762361 as well as grab a copy of Von Gutenberg #6 here: http://www.vongutenberg.com/shop
