MARQUIS AMERICA recommends Objectify in New York city, the new monthly MUST GO TO party!
OBJECTify’s Opening Night
New York’s newest fetish monthly, OBJECTify, brought to you collectively by The Baroness, Xris SMack!, EditrixAbby and Irene Kaoru, had a spectacular opening night on Sunday, April 12. Billed as “a genre-smashing party for intelligent technophiles and discerning fetishists,” the evening was an eclectic mix of youthful curiosity seekers, veteran players and everyone in between. Aiming to obsess about a new “object” each month, April’s soiree celebrated The Egg Beater and participants sported all sorts of inventive interpretations, including a delightful bowler hat with a mechanized egg beater that twirled when its owner touched your nose!
Downstairs in The Rubber Room, Mistress Wynter held court — and a wicked whip — while DJs Xris SMack! and The Merc provided the classic industrial soundtrack. Upstairs had a more electronic edge, mixed by DJs Shakey and Mic Rage. There were flames amidst the fashion show presented by Laura Sheedy, sexy aprons and more kitchen utensils as Lynne Bruning’s models shook their sexy tutus and at 1:30am, Guest Producer Empress Chi Chi Valenti awarded Rocketgirl with the $100 cash prize for best interpretation of The Egg Beater.
Guests were still on the dance floor at 4am and all experienced a scintillatingly scrambled time!
This month, the fetish-tastic foursome returns with an evening of obsessing over The Pill, more interactive entertainment and a celebration of EditrixAbby’s birthday. Join them for edge play, kinky couture costumery and cake!

Naughty! The Rubberball at Ground Zero

29|
April
2009 | 10:38 am

rubberballfetishIn the world of specific kinky subcultures, the rubber fetishists may just be the most visually dazzling.

On Saturday, April 25th, Ground Zero hosted The 15th annual Rubberball-a rubber fetish costume spectacular. Enthusiasts donned their rubbery finest and mixed with more traditional bondage outfitted partiers (yes, the bondage wearers were the conservatives). Plus, many lovely ladies with jacked-up bosoms garnered well-deserved attention.

A recurring sight throughout the evening was guys and gals leading their partners around by neck chains–the most creative of which led her man, who happened to be on all fours and dressed like a horse, around by the reins. Yee haw!

And, oh yes, there was lots of assless chaps. Many a winter-white booty said hello to the crowd.

The rubber wear was lavish and impressive–from full on Marie Antoinette style gowns, nurses, superheros, and Mexican wrestling inspired masks and body suits–some with as much of five layers of rubber–which did beg the question, how do you avoid chaffing and rashes?

An especially eerie effect was created by the wearers of expressionless rubber masks, like in that stupid Tom Cruise movie. When combined with the industrial music and ultra dark lighting in Ground Zero, you were left with a super-spooky anonymous-sex vibe that was perfect for this event.

rubberdressLike a kinky state fair, spanking and bondage booths were in full swing (gross) throughout the evening, as well as whips and various accouterments for sale. Many of the sellers and participants looked just like the average guy and gal next door or mid-level Target executive–which is probably exactly who they are.

Master of ceremonies and fetish icon Jean Bardot with her innuendo filled monologues, rallied the crowd. Stage performances were fun and kinky; especially riveting was a skit featuring a rubber clad nun and a naughty school girl–I think you get the idea. Designer Vex was featured in the fashion show that featured foxy club-wear as well as more fetish orientated garb.

As the costumed masses piled out into the streets of late night Minneapolis passersby were treated to the marvel of superheroes, nurses and nuns bearing naughty bits in the breeze-a beautiful spectacle of those willing to go all out when getting their freak on.

MARQUIS AMERICA toy review with Mistress Darkniis. She knows the toys as no other and we are proud to have her on the blog reviewing toys & accessories!

Aslan Leather – Jaguar Harness Line

Aslan Leather is THE place to shop for dildo harnesses. AND ladies and gentleman – they are CANADIAN!

Carrie Gray has been producing harnesses since 1991. She found the need to design a harness that worked for a woman’s body; et voila! Aslan Leather was born. All construction materials are hand chosen from the finest available and the outcome is a high-quality product that will stand up to wear and tear and you will be proud to use.

Carrie has sent us the Cherry Jaguar G and the Cherry Jaguar with the “Double up Cuff”.

From Aslan;

Designed for comfort, style and performance the Jaguar Harness has slim line buckles at the hips for maximum comfort and secure hold, D ring closures on the butt straps make the Jaguar design simple to put on (unbuckle one side, step in, adjust buckles to fit) it sits low on the hips like low-rise jeans. Made from truly sexy shiny black garment leather, this harness fits the body like a glove. Designed for the ultimate ride, the Jaguar’s dildo placement is lower than most traditional harnesses allowing for delicious pressure on the clit. Two strap design allows for plenty of access.
Aslan Leather presents the Cherry Jag G

cherry_jag_g

The Cherry Jag G is the one-strap harness. It has a three point snap out O ring system that comes with one 2″ rubber o-ring. It is a very comfortable fit – holds the dildo securely. The girl had a very pleasant experience with this one!

Next up was the Cherry Jag
cherry_jag

This was the favourite of the two for me. Again – really comfortable fit; the same snap out o-ring system. This is the two strap version of the Cherry Jag. It gives better access to the wearer AND it is compatible with the “Double up Cuff”.

doubleupcuff

This allows the wearer to have a dildo or an anal plug to ride at the same time. I must say – it was a nice ride!

Aslan Leather also has the Jaguar Slim which has the option of no o-ring for increased intimacy.

The quality of these harnesses is absolutely superb. The leather is soft and comfortable and the hardware is heavy duty. Carrie really knows her harnesses and you can see the care and attention to detail that goes into each piece.

If you are a BBW – give Carrie a shout and she will take care of you!

If you are in the Toronto area, Carrie offers lectures at Good For Her. Go and meet her in person!

Main Street shop owners swagger over to the Rio for fashion show

25|
April
2009 | 3:01 pm

mainstreetshop_cou_apr24With its vintage shops, local designer boutiques and artsy residents, Main Streeters who linger at neighbourhood cafes swagger with personal style like no other area of the city, says Scout co-owner Corinne Lea.

It’s this spirit her boutique, and four others, will celebrate with an upcoming fashion show called Main Street Swagger, April 30.

“East Van fashion is a real mix of decades,” she said. “It’s no surprise to see someone wearing all vintage to something really modern. We really mix it up a lot around here.”

Lea and her cohorts from the cheeky Hotbox Accessories, Pesky Peacocks vintage, Lace Embrace with its locally designed corsets and Thriller with its hip-hop-style Ts vow to represent hipsters, scenesters, skater boys and those who rock retro, pin-up girl, ’80s pop, hip hop and fetish looks at the multimedia show.

Main Street Swagger will strut its stuff a little further east, at the Rio Theatre on East Broadway near Commercial Drive. Along with Scout, Lea co-owns the Rio.

DJ K-Tel will cart his toolboxes of 45 RPM records to the Rio and get the party started with his eclectic mix of rockabilly, ’80s electro, funk and soul. Kristi Johanson, of the East Vanity Parlour on Kingsway, is styling the show and will screen a video about her coif shop that her music video-making friend created. Later on, Something About Reptiles, a band featuring Burcu Ozdemir who owns the Pesky Peacocks vintage shop and formerly ran Burcu’s Angels, will play its Turkish folk cabaret tunes. Models include dancers from Sweet Soul Burlesque plus the shop owners’ East Van gal and guy friends.

Scout opened on East Eighth Avenue across from Soma and the Chopping Block two years ago. Lea felt it was high time to hold the dress store’s first fashion show.

While the section of Main Street near King Edward is well known as a shopping destination, Lea wanted to profile the businesses between Seventh and 16th.

“I find the fashion further on down is a little bit more the geek chic kind of look,” Lea said. “Whereas [Scout], Hotbox, Lace Embrace, we’re a little bit more flamboyant, a little more sassy, showy and colourful.”

She admits shoppers’ reluctance to splurge in the face of the economic downturn inspired the show to some degree.

“People overreact when times are good and I think they overreact when times are bad, so [we're] just reminding people that none of our stores are expensive. [In] all of our stores you can get clothes for under $100,” she said.

Tickets to Main Street Swagger, are $7 and available at the door or any of the shops involved. Doors open at 8 p.m. and the show begins at 9 p.m.

Crystal Precious, also of Sweet Soul Burlesque and Scout, co-founded Vancouver’s burlesque festival. This year, the fourth annual Vancouver International Burlesque Festival, May 1 to 10, is run by a board of community volunteers. It will showcase the diversity of genres within the provocative art form known as burlesque.

“People will say, ‘Oh, I’ve seen burlesque,’ and it’s kind of like saying ‘I’ve seen music,’ because there’s so many different kinds out there,” Precious said.

Sweet Soul does playful, girly routines with props and eye-catching costumes, the local Screaming Chickens Theatrical Society performs variety-show-like skits and other troupes focus on shaking and shimmying.

“A lot of people think that it was sort of a fad that started in the late ’90s, but, as a matter of fact, there’s almost 10,000 burlesque dancers online right now across the western hemisphere,” Precious said. “And it is only spreading as an amazing DIY, do-it-yourself, community of women getting together who normally have histories of being pitted against each other in the conventional entertainment industry, who enjoy alternative lifestyles and sassiness and aren’t necessarily your conventional beauty but want to redefine it.”

Torture Garden Private ID scans leave fetish club-goers feeling exposed

25|
April
2009 | 2:42 pm

brighton-marchA security clampdown at a London club provides a troubling glimpse of the extent of privatised monitoring brought about by government policy.

A Reg reader drew our attention to complaints that visitors to fetish club Torture Garden must now hand over personal details before they are allowed to enter. Our follow-up investigation gave disturbing new insights into the farming-out of ID checks and its implications; as Phil Booth of No2ID puts it, “Two of the biggest sources of data insecurity over the next few years will be government policy and bureaucratic abdication of responsibility.”

Torture Garden regulars must provide details not because sado-masochists are believed to be more prone to violence than anyone else – in fact, research suggests that on the whole, they are often better behaved than the general public – but because Torture Garden events take place on the premises managed by SEOne Club.

Following a shooting incident (not during a TG event), police requested a licensing condition that in future, “all persons entering the premises must supply verifiable identification details that are passed through a digital scanning and recording system such as Club Scan, Idvista or similar computerised system”. They duly installed Clubscan – software and equipment developed by IDScan – and now all club-goers must submit one of a number of approved pieces of ID at the door before they are allowed to enter.

IDScan promotes its system on various grounds: it helps organisations comply with legislation, particularly that relating to licensing and age restrictions; it is a useful marketing tool; it assists in maintaining exclusion lists; data can be shared amongst groups of clubs to create area exclusions; and so on.

Its core function is its ability to read 223 different IDs and 162 different passports: it is capable of storing data including, as far as we can tell, name, address, photo and passport number. It is password-protected, and we have had no complaints about its inherent security.

In the case of the SEOne set-up, a spokesman told us that only senior management can access it: that information on the system is password-protected, and the equipment is removed from the front door when the club is shut and locked in a secure place.

A spokesman added that data is retained on the system for three years, in order to comply with the Data Protection Act. IDVista make similar claims for their equipment. According to its site, it “verifies the age and validity of your customers whilst building a unique data base enabling you to monitor, manage and market to your clientele”.

16So where’s the problem? According to Phil Booth, this is all about coercion through the licensing system and exploitation of a culture created by the Home Office. In its drive toward ever greater security for young people. the government have passed ever more punitive legislation aimed at separating young people from dangerous items. Age limits for cigarettes and knives have both been raised. Meanwhile, the penalties for retailers under legislation such as the Licensing Act 2003 have become ever more draconian.

Speaking in respect of another of IDScan’s products, Agescan, MD Tamlyn Thompson said: “Any shops or licensed premises failing an underage test twice within three months will lose the right to sell the item in question. AgeSafe is designed to both stop teenagers buying these products and also protect retailers’ livelihoods.”

From a pure disorder prevention perspective, there is much to be said for these devices. The Met have said that it may recommend that premises install “identification scanning… as a condition of licensing based on the past history of crime levels in the venue and an assessment as to whether the installation of such a system may help to prevent or reduce similar incidents occurring at the venue in future”.

Southwark Police, in whose area SEOne is situated, are currently working with several licensed premises in the area to pilot a six month trial of electronic ID scanning systems: the machines are being loaned and paid for by funding from the Home Office.

We asked the Met whether they were not concerned with the broader picture: after all, even if the systems are themselves secure, it has not been unknown for some clubs to be associated with various forms of crime, both organised and otherwise. Surely, pushing for wider and wider installation of private systems that gather and hold personal data was asking for trouble?

The Met see this is a totally separate issue, and not relevant to the installation of the machines for crime prevention purposes. Besides, the decision to install was taken by clubs or by local licensing authorities: it is not the Met’s responsibility.

The Home Office appear equally disinclined to accept any responsibility: businesses are bound by licensing agreements. That is up to local bodies, and the Home Office is not going to apologise for any laws it has passed in respect of age conditions. Besides, their spokeswoman added: “It is up to individuals whether or not they visit a club.”

They also felt that comparing government hands-off attitude in this case to their hands-on approach in respect of, say, speeding or eating, was wholly misguided.

Neither police nor the Home Office appear to be at all concerned that the sort of data that these systems will pick up is of great potential interst to both criminals and terrorists: neither organisation felt that there was any great issue in respect to the mass introduction of this technology on the High Street.

Presumably, on the day that the majority of pubs, clubs, off-licences and corner shops have installed this technology, the authorities will set up a working party to consider the security implications.

The Patricia Marsh House of Domination and Fantasy

24|
April
2009 | 4:41 pm

Marquis America is pleased to bring you and support one of the true legends in the SM realm: Mistress Patricia Marsh and The Patricia Marsh House of Domination and Fantasy.

As a greenhorn lad just starting out in this life, being taken in and under the wing of the late and eminent Mistress Papillon of San Francisco (and Southern Alberta), I was introduced, via print medium and personal correspondence, to some incredible men and women within SM circles worldwide. One name that kept coming up in my teaching as an example of all things right and proper, and the very embodiment of both lifestyle and professional Dominance, was Toronto’s Mistress Patricia Marsh.pastedgraphic

In an electronic age when it is very easy to be compromised, professionally and personally, as a “Professional Domina”, Mistress Patricia Marsh has managed to maintain an aura of strict discretion and privacy for all of her guests. For close to three decades – starting with the underground contact magazines and publications of the early 1980′s through to the instant-access age – she has managed to prove it is more than possible to live a private life (while supporting the Greater Toronto community) and still maintain a true legendary public presence. She is the perfect embodiment of the melding of two distinct worlds: the silent, exceptionally private SM expression of a less tolerant and expressive age and the all-too-accessible mass media era.

Her mantra in those three decades of exploration has remain unchanged: She has been dedicated to assisting both the experienced SM practitioner and the newcomer alike in opening up to an exploration of sadomasochism – and all the while insisting upon and providing a safe, sane and consensual environment in which to do so. The Patricia Marsh House of Domination and Fantasy – quite probably the only true European-style Domination facility in North America (and certainly considered one of the world’s best) rests unobtrusively within Toronto’s central core, and for years has provided the entry point for hundreds of explorers wishing to find a path within the fetish and SM worlds. Daily, hundreds of people pass by the facility, blissfully unaware of the diabolical devices and incredible array of instruments of persuasion contained within. For all intents and purposes, The Patricia Marsh House of Domination and Fantasy appears to be a well maintained, simple and elegant Victoria-style structure blending in perfectly with identical structures all around: it is only once one enters through the front door and down the initial, beautifully-designed corridor to the Inner Sanctum that a soon-to-be devoted acolyte knows they have entered the realm of a true legend.

While the Internet in the 21st Century is cluttered with the advertisements of a few “fetish models” wearing great boots and displaying riding crops or whips on their hips (while trying to pass themselves off as “professionals”), the message that Mistress Patricia Marsh continues to deliver remains the same: SM is, in her own words, “A way of giving – and receiving – Love.” Her philosophy as a Domina has remained unchanged – that it is in the mutual act of dominance and submission that equally empowers both the Mistress and the servant.

pm14While it is certainly true that gathering up the personal constitution needed to contact an experienced professional can be somewhat of a source of intimidation to the relative newcomer to SM circles, Mistress Patricia Marsh is actually very approachable and truly enjoys showing respectful and eager neophytes “the ropes”.  ”I find it (teaching novices) a refreshing and exciting experience, like baby’s first steps,” she said. In addition to the newcomer and the experienced “single” practitioner, Mistress Patricia Marsh is particularly interested in working with couples – as either a straightforward Domina, or as a teacher or “coach”.

The Patricia Marsh House of Domination and Fantasy has a number of areas – and indeed entire rooms – that cater to most fetishes and types of SM exploration. Upon entrance through the main corridor, and definitely in an effort to add to the anticipation, what the visitor sees is an imposing double doorway; a stairway framed with an arch leading skywards; and a very narrow yet slightly intimidating door with a “peep window” peering into the Main Dungeon. In effect, then, there are three entrance doors to the implements of persuasion contained therein (“Effectively squeaky,” Mistress Patricia Marsh said with a smile). This system is highly effective at maintaining the initial atmosphere: it keeps the visitor in the right “head space” from the moment the doors are opened to them.

Once granted access to the Main Dungeon, the visitor cannot help but see the one-of-a-kind Wheel of Misfortune (one of the most imposing Catherine Wheels in any Dungeon, anywhere, one will ever experience) installed against a far wall. The Wheel of Misfortune has been carefully and effectively inscribed with the words Desire, Fear, Control, Suffer, Surrender and Transform in runic text upon its imposing yet strangely comforting “face”.

Located directly next to The Wheel of Misfortune is a vintage Victorian dentist chair, upholstered in leather and retrofitted with tight-fitting straps. There is an array of bondage yokes and bars suspended from an unbelievably detailed ceiling: the entire room truly has the feeling of a medieval Inquisitional Dungeon. Ancient, rough-hewn immense wooden beams have been carefully installed (and truly appear to be part of the original support structure of the House itself), and the cross-pattern made by the beams in the ceiling provide an effective and gorgeous Sistine-like canvas and framing for the hand-painted occult and mythical symbols of ancient wisdom which adorn it. The symbols themselves have been carefully selected and placed: they stand for strength and protection.

While most “dungeons” have some form of St. Andrews Cross contained within them, there are few that are truly as beautiful – or as effective – as Mistress Patricia Marsh’s. Besides having the ability to fully raise and lower her cross (so that it can arranged, tilted or laid at virtually any angle), it has been fitted with extremely sturdy “brackets” which allows anyone, of any body type and stature, the ability to climb up onto it.

An array of whips and floggers are visible strategically aligned in an imposing yet comfortable sequence hanging from a beautifully-designed portcullis structure: this slyly blends into a medieval style jail cell, complete with arched-door and accompanying jailor view portal. Within the cell itself is an ingenious male genital restraint device made of metal – most assuredly designed to guarantee that a “prisoner” won’t be able to escape easily.

A quick look to the immediate right, and a visitor is greeted with the sight of a very imposing and authentic Puritanical Pillory – a device that serves both as a functional piece of extreme bondage furniture as well as an eminently effective room divider.

pm275A short step down into the adjoining room brings the penitent into a wonderful, secondary part of the main Dungeon which Mistress Patricia Marsh refers to as The Grotto. The most striking feature of this area has to be the vaulted ceiling, strategically designed and decorated to resemble a catacomb or a tomb. There is a large, comfortable bondage “table” suspended by chains from the curved roof, and those that are fortunate enough to go without a blindfold cannot help but notice, when gazing straight up, that some sections of the ceiling are actually inconspicuously adorned with thin, slivered sections of mirrors so that they may be able to glimpse a sparse view their subjugation. A smaller, leather-covered bondage table is set off to the right side, and the back of the room features a large in-floor, sunken bathtub – complete with a bondage sling suspended above it. There is also an appropriately Gothic themed washroom at the back of the Main Dungeon, appropriately detailed in the same severe arched-door style that is so effectively employed in many areas of the entire House.

There are several other rooms within the large facility, ranging from a fully authentic and “operational” medical room (few real doctors offices are as tastefully designed and decorated), to a cross-dressers’ salon and an unbelievable, richly-detailed Victorian Boudoir. The Boudoir itself is large enough to be used as a secondary “dungeon”. On the whole, Mistress Patricia Marsh and her staff of exceptionally trained Dominas and submissives have a plethora of environments (not to mention accoutrements) in which to truly give the discerning SM disciple one of the purest and most satisyfing experiences they are sure to ever have.

Within limits and certainly within reason, there is very little that Mistress Patricia Marsh and her staff do not offer in the way of an SM experience. From the sublime to the obvious, the tame to the extreme, there is a scenario and situation (not to mention most assuredly some wicked kind of device) for everyone. “I love mind games, playing with anticipation and fear; expectation and denial; and an element of surprise.”

pm173In stark contrast to her loving and patient introduction to SM to the novice explorer, Mistress Patricia Marsh also offers extremely detailed and sophisticated, potentially lengthy encounters – and people do make “special trips” from all over the world in order to satiate their deeper desires at Mistress Patricia Marsh’s dungeon. These kinds of extended captivity custom-designed encounters can take several weeks to collaborate on and ultimately plan – and each “adventure” is (in her own words) a “custom designed intrigue”. These adventures can be complex and extravagent; decadent and opulent; usually “fantasy orientated”; and can last for several hours – or even several days.

She and her staff have even on occasion employed the hiring of limousines as an integral part of the overall encounter (much can be done behind the total privacy of limousine glass dividers, after all – not to mention other active participants could be picked up and added to the company along the way). Mistress Patricia also employs various other “psychodramatic techniques” in order to add to the overall experience – and all designed to ensure that the subject is completely enveloped in the appropriate mindset for what he (or she) is about to participate in.

“I am interested in any and all fantasies or fetishes a client has”, she said. “But my personal comfort level will vary and as will whether or how I work with said kink. I do try to respect my own boundaries (as well as the client’s); and will definitely push them, too ( both of our limits) ; never compromising safety of course.  All that said, what  rocks my world and rocks their world - is that between us The World is Rocking! We are in it together! That is how  power exchange works. And it is visible … palpable.”

“So I love edge play and pushing boundaries; any and all that are up for grabs. That is what it is about: because that is where you make a hyper connection between two separate beings, at their fluctuating boundaries. That’s where you both find the juice, the excitement. A shift takes place. It can be subtle, or dramatic; a little or a lot scary – it’s all good! Whether I’m using a feather or a bullwhip, or putting you in pink panties, or hanging you upside down, it doesn’t matter. It’s all fun – but only if I can really ‘get your goat’! It’s about the ‘How of It’ … The unfolding experience in full awareness, moment to moment. That is where this connects to my Gestalt training. This is the same thing that happens in Gestalt Therapy.”

This unaltered and unflinching philosophy is something Mistress Patricia Marsh is very passionate about: she has even made a serious investment in resources and time in acquiring an education attuned to and very much in line with her beliefs.

pm418Several years ago, and mainly out of personal interest, Mistress Patricia Marsh completed four years of intensive training in Gestalt Psychotherapy, and has made a substantial investment of her personal time in order to learn how to be an effective Life Coach as well. She has recently started a separate practice, based on her education, as a kink-aware Therapist and Life Coach, and is keenly interested in working with couples in this capacity as well as in her role as Domina.  ”Power Exchange and Gestalt Therapy share several similarities, and each practice informs the other,” she said. “It’s about the unfolding of the experience, in full awareness, moment to moment. That is where this connects to my Gestalt training. This is exactly the same thing that happens in Gestalt Therapy.”

Her ”psychodramatics” are also sure to guarantee the seeker shall forever remember – and cherish – the overall experience and event. Mistress Patricia Marsh takes great pains to make sure each encounter is truly personal and unique. Visitors to the house have even described their tailored sessions to be “cathartic” – and Mistress Patricia Marsh is truly one of the best Dominas when it comes to dreaming and scheming in the passion of the moment. “I love the spontaneity and creativity of interaction with a client,” she said. “I see my work as the challenge of bringing fantasies to life – perhaps in ways they never would have imagined. I seek to engage their whole being on a sensual, mental, spiritual, emotional and even sexual level. My mandate is to offer my guests a truly unique and powerful experience.”

The Patricia Marsh House of Domination and Fantasy operates daily from 10:30 am to 1:30 am (Toronto time). In addition to the myriad of professional services offered by Mistress Patricia Marsh and her staff, tours of the Dungeon are also available. Each tour also includes a consultation.

“A consultation gives them an opportunity to discuss what sort of session they could have,” Mistress Patricia Marsh said. “At that point, they can choose to go ahead with it (immediately), or go home, get psyched, and look forward to it.” The tours and consultations are important in helping those who may feel apprehension or some anxiety (or are merely curious) about never having set foot inside a genuine, professional SM Dungeon setting before. Many visitors, besides perhaps having never set eyes upon such detailed bondage apparatus before, also truly have no sense of what it “feels like” to be placed upon any of those particular pieces, and naturally may have some hesitancy or outright reservations about what it may be they truly wish to experience. A tour and a consultation allows the potential to ask any and all pertinent questions, about anything they have seen or heard; have a comfortable conversation discussing their SM interests or fantasies; and ultimately decide whether they are ready to commit to a session, or not. It is all about providing an appropriate comfort level for every person who has gathered up the courage and resolve to merely walk through the front door – and in that regard there are few finer and able to put visibly nervous new potentials at ease than Mistress Patricia Marsh and her staff.

A colleague and mutual friend has recently described Mistress Patricia Marsh with the following words: “She is to Domination what the National Ballet is to dance, what the Art Gallery of Ontario is to visual arts, and the ROM (Royal Ontario Museum) is to priceless artifacts and collections.”

Namely, the best - and a legend. Those interested in learning more about The Patricia Marsh House of Domination and Fantasy can read more about her by visiting her website, located at http://www.patriciamarsh.com.

“My dance nudes are about clarity of focus and determination to be your best.  I am interested in what we are all capable of achieving when we put our minds to a specific goal.  Giulia is a woman who embodies excellence, not only as a dancer and performer but as a person.  Hopefully, this comes out in my images and can be a source of inspiration for others.”

MARQUIS WEEKLY TOY REVIEW Suringa K MDF Paddles

reviewbanner2

MARQUIS AMERICA toy review with Mistress Darkniis. She knows the toys as no other and we are proud to have her on the blog reviewing toys & accessories!

Our friends from the Netherlands, Suringa-K have sent by some wicked paddles for testing and review.

suringa_k

My Dominant friend’s eyes lit up when he saw me take these out of my flogger trunk! Both paddles are crafted from MDF; this makes them both sturdy and light.

The paddle on the left with the circles cut in it lets airflow through which makes for a seriously stingy sensation. My victim’s bum cheeks were red and warm in no time at all! Whack them hard enough and you get the nice circular pattern left on the cheeks.

The second Suringa-K paddle is a little more unique and interesting. You have two sides to choose from. The flat side of course is normal paddle fare – good for warming up that arse and getting the nice glow going. The second side is textured with triangular ridges – more of a “thuddy” experience and great for a bit of sensation play.

The MDF will take a beating of its own and keep on giving! These paddles have just enough of a gloss finish on them to be easy to clean up and hang back on the wall.

Suringa-K also carries a very unique line of stocks and bondage furniture that are both useful and aesthetically pleasing to the eyes! Go and give them a peek.

Fetish Munch and Fetish Circuit in Florida

18|
April
2009 | 7:10 pm

mam45MARQUIS AMERICA recommends Fetish Parties within the US and globally. The contribution from Mistress Sophie below gives a good introduction on how to go about joining a fetish party and get involved. In the MARQUIS MAGAZINE you will find party updates and announcements of upcoming parties as well. The Number 1 Fetish Magazine!

Recently, I’ve been getting a lot of questions about how to explore the fetish lifestyle and approaching fem doms. So, take to your desks, students – here are the answers.  If you’ve never been to a public play party, but always wanted to go, the idea of walking into a club dressed in your best unused fetish gear probably fills you with excitement and nervousness. Relax, it’s not that hard. The safest way to participate in the world of kink is to attend your local munch, and then the public play party. I recommend the Tampa Munch and the Fetish Circuit play party (scheduled for this Saturday afternoon and evening, respectively).

Last month I spent some time discussing the benefits of munches: safety, education, real life interactions, discretion, and stress-free socializing with like-minded individuals.  If you want to go to your first fetish party, make the Tampa munch. Ask around, and introduce yourself to Edwin or Kimmie, the host and hostess. Let them know that you’re new, and thinking of attending the Fetish Circuit play party later that night. Both of them are friendly, gregarious people, who really enjoy their roles as newbie liaisons. If they can’t answer your questions, you probably don’t need to know the answers.

But we’re here to discuss the play party. Edwin describes it as “an adult lifestyle play party hosted in a night club environment – the kind of place where a single woman can attend and introduce herself to me or my partner, Kimmie, and we can keep an eye on her, make sure that she gets to meet good people with similar interests.” In short, Fetish Circuit is the best public play party in town. Park in the south garage and strut the block and a half to the Honey Pot. The club boasts $50,000 in light and sound equipment, and a full bar. Once a month, Edwin brings in kink furniture, DJ Jeff (of Parthenon, Castle, and various lifestyle events), and a phenomenal security/dungeon monitor crew. Big J, Mr. T, Maxx, Motley and Edwin all have years of security and lifestyle experience.  They are exactly the kind of generous and qualified staff I like to see at events (and I often do, Edwin and his crew work events like FetishCon and other lifestyle conventions). If you’re at the party and have any questions, just look for the people walking around in grey shirts with epaulets. They’ll be more than happy to assist you.

All you need to bring with you, according to Edwin, is the $10 door fee, a photo ID (18 and up), and respect. Fetish attire is requested, though not required. You don’t need to bring toys or a play partner. I suggest just socializing and observing the first night. Maybe do a bit of shopping – that’s right, shopping. In addition to the sights and sounds, Fetish Circuit hosts a number of kinky vendors selling varied and changing inventory like floggers, restraints, paddles, and sometimes even clothing (a note to tailors and seamstresses – the fem dom community is sorely under served in this capacity – we need custom clothing).

montreal62One of the reasons I recommend the Fetish Circuit is that it has something for everyone: male or female; dom or sub; gay or het (even queer!); experienced or novice. While not as rigid in its dress code as other public play parties, the Circuit still draws some tasty, kinky eye candy. No nudity allowed, but lots of boy shorts and electrical tape pasties, as well as leather, latex, frilly skirts, and goth refinement. And the play! The main reason FC stands head-and-shoulders above other local public venues is because it reliably yields amazing scenes. It’s a bit like a Byzantine maze, you never know what you’ll find when you turn the next corner. It could be dramatic fire play, or soft flesh corseted with staples and thread, intricate and sensual flogging, a light impromptu tickling scene, or submissives wholly absorbed in high-protocol service.

There isn’t any pressure to play. Voyeurism is a key component of consensual exhibitionism. FC is the kind of party where one can observe people enjoying themselves in a way that validates individual interests and pursuits. According to Edwin, “We might be a minority, but we’re not abnormal.” I have to agree.

Fem doms, rejoice. Not only are there a plethora of male subs, but there are a cadre of intelligent, funny, and powerful women with whom you can socialize. Dying for a conversation that doesn’t involve children, taxes, or television? Chat with a dom and you just might find yourself knee-deep in a fascinating discussion of sexual politics and the gendered dynamics of power exchange.

Male subs, take heart. If you’re feeling frisky, and want to approach a dom, do your homework. The best way to meet that bewitching vixen of your nightmares is to have someone introduce you to her. If you followed my advice thus far, simply ask the people you met at the munch who she is. After you learn a little bit about her (like her name), ask if it would be possible to get an introduction. Sometimes it’s not an option. She may be, unbeknownst to you, engaged in a night-long scene. As disappointing as it may seem, it’s better than interrupting her. A first impression is a terrible thing to waste.

So be brave, newbie kinksters! Prepare and advance! And when you do attend the party, tell them Mistress Sophie sends her regards.

April
2009 | 3:06 pm

porsche-lynn-8MARQUIS AMERICA recommends Dom Con from May 6 to 10 in Los Angeles, CA. All event details you can check out at: www.domconla.com

Let’s do the time warp again! We are going back about six years ago and I am at chatting with promoter DJ Courtney. It is my first BIZARRE magazine release party at Club Dungeon and the place is SRO. Ronnie Rock is there along with the ever popular Ken Marcus (www.kenmarcus.com) take a look! Needless to say I am on Cloud 69 and I am so jazzed when my new friend Mistress Cyan and her entourage show up.

Right away I go into my well known ‘camera time’ dance and lay a copy of the latest issue of TRANSFORMATION on her. Right away she knows the gig and holds it up and says, “Take your photo Bitch and when you have a minute I need to speak to you.”

My golden earrings start to melt down when Cyan says to me, “Marlayna, I’m making plans on presenting a bondage and fetish convention at the Beverly Garland Hotel in a few months. I’d like you to help me promote it in your magazines.” HELLO, HELLO HELLO! Oh we, oh, we O!!

dom-com-3At this point in time I tell many that there are two parties I live for and look forward to every year. They are Halloween and Cyan’s DomCon and after thinking about it as I key pad pound here. I now have to add the Las Vegas Halloween Fetish & Fantasy Ball (PLUG HERE) and make it a threesome!.

Now dear reader, IF you have never been to a Dom Con convention I have to feel a tad sorry for you. Just the fact that you are reading this BLOG says that you are into the scene or interested in some aspect of it.

Whatever your kink-a-lcious fetish heart and maybe tortured soul needs you will find it here! I have to keep your attention here so I will drop in the DomCon website at the end of my spiel!

This year I will be hi-heeling it in with my Sin City gal pal Shavonna Starr ( www.shavonna.com ).We will be hooking up with Jenny Hollywood who is one of the hottest party girls I have ever met. If you have a copy do a look see in TRANSFORMATION magazine issue #67. Jenny and I are there doing some huggie, huggie, kiss, kiss at last year’s AVN XXX Adult Industry party!

Back to it  and time for you to log on to www.DomConLA.com . No need for me to ramble on any more because all the fatty, skinny and perv-o-mation is there for you .Oh, and do look for my pal Erik B from Marquis as he will on the scene working it.

Catwoman Amber Moelter The Feline Fatale

img_5119editblackhaircomiclayoutalmlogo1Amber Moelter: The Feline Fatale

Dirty Step Upstage, the movie by Amber Moelter covered on Marquis America last month, features her latex-clad character Girl in the Red Dress. But the roots of Amber’s enthusiasm for latex lie in a different character, one that happens to be among the strongest fetish icons of all: Catwoman.

“Catwoman and I go way back,” she laughs. “I played her in two fan-films, first in 2004 and again in 2006. They were both amazing experiences and got a great response from Cat-fans. But more than that, they set me on the path that led to Vex Clothing, Marquis and all my other fetish friends, as well as to forming my own production company and making my own films. So, the character has had a really profound effect on me. She changed my life.”

Amber’s first incarnation of Selina Kyle was in Catwoman: Copycat, and originally didn’t involve latex at all. “The costume in Copycat was the classic all-black catsuit, but the first suit we tried was in PVC.  I could barely move.”

A change in costume made all the difference. “We altered the costume to a black latex catsuit from Polymorphe, which I loved compared to the PVC,” said Amber. “I celebrated by doing some splits and other poses, which wound up online in the behind-the-scenes featurette. That certainly seemed to go down well with fans….”

When the first film’s release stalled, Amber decided to play the character a second time and produced Catwoman: Resolution. Her decision to go for latex was automatic: “I searched everywhere for someone who could give me an awesome custom latex rubber suit on a indie-film budget. A seemingly impossible task turned into miracle when I came across Vex’s website and Laura Petrielli, who was fantastic and more than met all my requirements.”

img_5024editcomiclayoutalmlogoposterThe purple-and-black suit in Resolution was modeled on a specific outfit from the comics. “My first drawings were based on Jim Balent’s designs from Catwoman, Guardian of Gotham, the only time she wears a bondage-style black corset over the infamous purple catsuit. There’s even more of a dominatrix flavor about it than the earlier version, but I actually felt more naked than I had previously.”

Jim Balent himself let Amber know that he approved. “He contacted me, saying that it was a thrill to see Catwoman brought to life and that he liked how I had used his design. It was so incredible and gratifying to hear.”

Resolution was also the first product from Amber’s own company, ALM Talkies, and saw her diving into the movie business as a producer, writer, and latterly as director too. Timely perhaps, now that the Batman family is back on the movie screen in a big way.

“The other day I logged onto YouTube and saw a video of suggested actors to play Catwoman in the next Batman movie, and naturally it was fan favorites like Angelina and Charlize…and then I saw my own name!! Amazing! And of course I have so much history with the character, I’m the perfect choice. So, Christopher Nolan, if you’re listening….”

Eric Stanton the dominant wives and other stories

14|
April
2009 | 8:38 am

cover_ko_stanton_25_0803191711_id_125501MARQUIS AMERICA recommends Eric Stanton. Eric was a twenteeth century bondage and fetish artist. (September 30 1926 – March 17 1999 – born Ernest Stanzoni).

His work is extraordinary and the best was fetish drawings has to offer until our present time. His style is unique and just fascinating. The short stories are short but full of live and right to the point.

NOW ON MARQUIS AMERICA: Eric Stanton – The dominant wives and other stories!

An exceptional book and we are proud carrying it in our online shop!

Born and raised in New York City, Stanton began his career in 1947 at Irving Klaw’s Movie Star News company, gaining employment by boasting he could draw better than any of the artists then working for Klaw. He afterward attended the Cartoonists and Illustrators School, under Batman inker Jerry Robinson and others. One classmate was future Spider-Man co-creator Steve Ditko. Stanton shared a Manhattan studio at 43rd Street and Eighth Avenue with Ditko from 1958 to 1966 or 1968 (accounts differ). Some of Stanton’s work during this period shows heavy Ditko influence (see below), although Ditko has denied contributing to Stanton’s art.

page_ko_stanton_25_01_0711221421_id_127287

Stanton, in a 1988 interview with comics historian Greg Theakston, recalled that though his contribution to Spider-Man was “almost nil”, he and Ditko had “worked on storyboards together [and] I added a few ideas. But the whole thing was created by Steve on his own. … I think I added the business about the webs coming out of his hands”.

After Klaw died in 1966, Stanton supported himself via self-publishing and distributing his work to a quasi-underground network of subscribers and patrons. His mimeographed/photocopied Stantoons comic-book series continued to his death in 1999 and featured many of his best-known post-Klaw concepts, including the superheroine Blunder Broad, and the Amazon-like Princkazons.

page_ko_stanton_25_03_0711221421_id_127307

Blunder Broad

Stanton created Blunder Broad in the 1970s with writer Turk Winter, for use in a great number of pornographic BDSM stories, published over the years in black and white. A parody of Wonder Woman, Blunder Broad is an inept superheroine who continually fails in her missions and is invariably raped and tortured by her enemies, who include a lesbian supervillainess variably called Leopard Lady, Pussycat Galore, or Cheetah, and her male sidekick Count Dastardly. Blunder Broad can be deprived of her superstrength when subjected to cunnilingus.

Princkazons

With “Lady Princker”, Stanton and Shaltis (as well as Alan Throne and Winter) created the Princkazons storyline in which women around the world grew female penises, or “princks”. These women also grew taller and stronger than men and began dominating and humiliating the men in public, including facesitting and rape.

MARQUIS WEEKLY TOY REVIEW Hitachi Magic Wand

12|
April
2009 | 12:08 pm

reviewbanner1

MARQUIS AMERICA toy review with Mistress Darkniis. She knows the toys as no other and we are proud to have her on the blog reviewing toys & accessories!

The Hitachi Magic Wand Hitachi has managed to produce one of the most versatile personal massagers available on the market today. It dices, it slices, it picks up your drycleaning… It is the shit!

The Hitachi is a very powerful vibrator that plugs into the wall and has two variable speed settings. The head is made of texturized rubber and flexible to actually be able to use it to massage sore shoulder/neck/back muscles. Slap some Tiger Balm on the head and massage it into those sore spots for almost instant relief – the Magic Wand is like the power tool of massagers!
hitachi1

Whether for solo, or kinky play – everyone should have one of these as your “intimate massager”. Over the past couple of years both Hitachi and others have developed rubber and silicone attachments/sleeves that go over the head of the massager to create vaginal and anal dildos as well as lots of varied textures. I haven’t come across anything for you size queens yet – if someone has found one; I’d love to hear from you!

The wand is just the basic tool. My favourite sleeve is one that has dual penetration. The way most of the sleeves are built is so that the heel of the big vibrating head can stimulate the clit.

My only bitch about this wonderful man-replacer is that it is tethered to a cord that plugs into an outlet. After having tried a couple of the competing products though, I always come back to the Hitachi. The models that are similar that either recharge or require batteries just don’t have the same power that plugging the unit into the wall will give you.

For evil kinky fun they make harnesses that allow you to place the vibrating head of the unit against the clit so that it cannot be moved. It is very fun to watch your girl squirm because she can’t get away from that orgasmic sensation – which can quickly turn into orgasmic pain because there is no cessation! She will be climbing the walls in no time!

The wonderful people at Hitachi keep developing things that will enhance the wand experience. Stay tuned to have a testing report on their latest and greatest gadgets as they become available!

The Hitachi Magic Wand and two different heads are available  in the  MARQUIS online store empowered by stockroom.

Jewell Marceau, Artist, Bondage Model and Director

April
2009 | 5:32 pm

send-to-erik-dsc_0280-for-marquis-fet-blog-1MARQUIS AMERICA recommends Jewell Marceau. She is an awesome performer, artist, model and director. Therefore we decided as well to offer Jewell Marceaus Videos on the MARQUIS AMERICA website. Please enjoy the movies from her at our site and we will for sure add more movies from her going forward. Jewell, congratulations from us and we are looking forward to much more to come!

More that a few times I have said to friends on the kink scene , “I know  Jewell Marceau and she puts the Capital “C on the word charisma.” Now,  over the last twenty years I have met numerous A-B and C list celebrities and superstars and only a few had something that all the gold in ft. Knox can not buy.  That is charisma!.

The first time I met Jewell was at the second DomConLA event I was speechless. She was out in front of her booth meeting admirers and posing up for photos and I was mesmerized as I watched her bathing in the lap of exhibitionistic luxury.   It was a treat watching her fans male and female all buzzing around her for a live look-see and a photo-op!

Right away realized I was one of the worker bees and I was thrilled when she finally looked at me and said, “Well take your photos now gurl.” At the time I had been working for BIZARRE and NUGGET magazines and my specialty was and still is doing interviews.

Needless to say I was ecstatic when she  handed me her business card  after I askedJewell if she was up for a feature interview! Well NUGGET gave her a nine page a go-go with forty-eight of her photos on display!! HELLO, HELLO! Jewell is totally amazing! Along with her charismatic sex appeal Jewell has a sexually adventurous and sado-sub side to her personality! This has her pushing her limits and everyone else’s around her!

send-to-erik-dsc_0358-for-marquis-fet-blog-2The last time I met up with Jewell Marceau was at the last year’s DomConLA  (go figure) and we had a chance to chat about NUGGET folding and what fun the event was. Since I was in photo-op mode I made sure to snap off a few shots of her. Then I was off to see Mistress Cyan about photos for a feature interview I am doing with her for a new magazine called Pro Dom International online. Hello Louann!

My luck as I am photo-cruising as I cum, excuse me, come across an amazing sight to behold that I will never forget. The kink-a-licious Jewell is sporting a black latex-panty-strap-on and was stroking it like she wanted, no needed some pussy of any kind!!

My mind was spinning from the pupils in my eyes dilating so fast because this was way too-much information! However, as I felt the blood flushing and rushing down to my panty-pumper I realized I had best take another photo or three!

Cut to the AVN XXX Ultimate After Party last January. When I am chatting with Erik B.  I tell him right up front about how hot I am to work with him on a project or two for Marquis. I do a name drop tell him I did up a feature interview with Jewell Marceau and he lit up and smiled brightly and said, “Oh, Jewell and I are friends.”

Well as we know one thing leads to another and after I checked out Jewell’s award-winning website www.jewellmarceau.com I was biting my lower lip and looking for some tubie-lubie !  You will be treated to a non-stop parade and smorgasborg of XXX fetish eye candy featuring Jewell and her perved-out gal pals! As soon as you log o look for a slide show of Jewell in amazing JPR bondage, kinked out in latex and more!

send-to-erikmarceau0177-send-2Most likely Jewell will not be upset with me for calling her an ‘update freak’. But I am sure she will realize this a major compliment  because she is dedicated to keeping her site a “must-visit”!

Do look for her latest video updates, “Princess Justice: “Death By Dildoe” and “Leather Dominance”. Then scroll down to a XXX lesbo-bondo- perv gallery like you have never and I mean never have ever seen before!

Easy for me to pound out a cup full of copy and xxx cream and here! HELLO! Also please do pass on to Jewell that she will always be my ‘diamond in the buff’.

At moment I am wrapping up a mini-interview with my long time ago party-pal, the enigmatic Mike Powers! Who will tell us all about his new Power Exchange Las Vegas

and the fat dick lowdown on the back ground music I am hearing that he is re-opening the PESF!! Play safe and insane!

Alternatives to Latex Wear: Welcome Back, Plastics and Spandex!

10|
April
2009 | 12:06 pm

tn-01241-300x2251Okay, so it’s official: We’re in a financial crisis the world hasn’t seen since a guy named Roosevelt was running the United States of America. While the merits of FDR’s “New Deal” have been hotly revisited and debated since the money meltdown on Wall Street, Fleet Street and Bay Street took Position One on our collective television news reports, the very simple truth is that it took a second World War in order for America to finally balance the books. Death-dealing sells. It’s profitable. One of the casualties of that torturous “book balancing” process was something very innocent and something we take for granted (at least women do) in our everyday lives, some seventy years later: Nylon.

stockingsWomen in the 1940′s had to resort, en mass, to drawing a simple line down the backs of their legs with an eyebrow pencil in order to facilitate the “illusion” that she was, in fact, adorned in nylon stockings. The stuff was too precious: It was needed for the American and Allied war effort and was therefore considered a big ticket, luxury item. A pair of nylon stockings (introduced to the consumer marketplace first in 1938 and then available immediately in the nation’s department stores after the 1939 New York World’s Fair) in 1944 would have sold for the equivalent of $1, 633.00 in today’s inflated currency. Don’t even bother to wonder about silk: that was even more of a precious commodity and silk hosiery was virtually extinct during the War Years.

While I am quite certain we won’t quite have a shortage of materials – let alone a World War on that kind of scale, God forbid – the economic anxiety of this most recent global financial crisis has forced many a fetishist to seek out and source alternatives to their favorite adornment materials: namely, leather and especially latex. Polyvinyl Chloride, known to Goths and shiny black stuff lovers everywhere by the simple abbreviation PVC, has for over twenty years an affordable alternative to the more traditional SM attire for the masses, so this missive shall not focus on that lovely material. It’s a given, I think, that most fetishists have at least one article of PVC clothing or fashion accessory in their closets (and that would include shoes and/or boots).

The most obvious alternative material for fetishwear seen in the clubs and even out on the streets these days has to be that good old staple from the “Big Hair Band” days of the 1970′s and 1980′s, lycra: known by its more popular brand name, Spandex. Large retail outlets such as American Apparel, for instance, have introduced entire lines of lycra leggings in a myriad of colors – and who hasn’t admired a lovely pair of long legs in shiny leggings flanked by a gorgeous pair of over-the-knee boots while out grocery shopping recently? Even ‘Big Hair’ appears to be on the comeback trail – what’s old is new again, after all!

It isn’t just the staple of lycra leggings making more and more of a presence, though: Recent designers have started previewing entire lines of coordinates that feature lycra shirts, blouses, tops and, of course, even trousers. The quality of some of these ensembles could, and has, fooled even the most discerning of fetish connossieurs dedicated to the “purism” of latexwear (trust me on this one, please). Combined with a polyurethane coating, lycra outfits can look amazingly similar to the latex real deal – and tend to be vastly more affordable.

dscn7810_20080720051545_510Of course, there always has been a separate fetish dedicated to spandex attire unto itself. Lyrca catsuits, for instance, have been a staple of the total enclosure crowd for decades. Among the “Furry” population, animal print lyrca body suits and “mummy suits” are certainly a far more cost effective alternative to paying a professional costumer thousands of dollars for a Frisky Tiger, Sexy Fox or Cutie Kitty completely transformative wardrobe. Purchasing latex for larger size men and women has always been a painful and ultimately frustrating experience, and for that reason alone many fetishists who don’t fit into the ‘supermodel body type’ have opted to find enormous satisfaction in any number of themed lycra full body costumes. When combined with other fetish accessories such as boots, gloves and especially masks and gas masks, the transformation can be striking – and even to the casual fetish partygoer sensual and extremely erotic. The full body lycra mummy or body suit isn’t the exclusive realm of the animal transformationists, of course: We’ve all seen the “superhero” body suits (Superman and Supergirl forever!), of course, but some, such as Halifax, Nova Scotia’s Big D, have raised the wearing of lycra body suits to an iconic high art form (pictured at left is Big D incredibly and alluring attired in a paramilitary camouflage lycra body suit and Israeli M15 military gas mask).

Apart from lycrawear, other alternatives to latex (especially) have become more popular. Toronto’s Plastic Wrap stores, for instance, have started specializing in alternative materials such as Polyurethane Plastic and even Neoprene as affordable options to latex outter wear. Neoprene is best known as the material used to insulate deep sea divers from the pressure and cold of ocean waters – but it is fast becoming popular in the Gothic clubs in Toronto and elsewhere because of its comfort, snug fit and breathability. Another popular Toronto fetishwear emporium, the famous He and She Clothing Gallery in Toronto’s downtown east side, has made a conscious decision to focus more on these kinds of alternative materials – due in part to the rising cost of latexwear especially, but also due to demand. He and She Clothing Gallery does a good business marketing and providing very cost-effective alternatives for their customers: they have little need to expose their roster of custom-designed pieces online and world-wide as it is a challenge to simply keep up stock due to demand within Southern Ontario alone. Plastics as a fashion statement became very popular in the Go-Go Boots dance clubs of the 1960′s – and all environmental issues aside, the material is once again becoming more and more popular heading deep into the 21st Century.

cqd991_fv1One of the new materials He and She Clothing Gallery is excited about in particular is the “Wet Look” line of fetish fashionables. It is described by a dedicated eBay seller as a “material in between vinyl and latex. Shiny like vinyl but a more supple stretch like latex,  the Wet Look is a great alternative for all your fetish and sexy outfits. Comfortable, breatheable, it will gives you a wonderfully snug fit.” Every identifiable fetish fashion group, from Cyber Goths to Steam Punks, have started donning more and more of the “Wet Look” fashions – and simply because it provides such a cost-effective and comfortable alternative to traditional rubber or leather wear.

Another huge advantage for starting to add the “Wet Look” to your fetish wardrobe is the ease of care. The material is hand washable in cold water, and does not require the use of powders of silicone-based lubricants to ease into. It is also permanently “shiny”: there is no need to polish the material. The “Wet Look” is also highly prized for its flexibility in colors and designs: some color combinations (such as metallics in copper, silver, bronze or gold) simply aren’t truly achievable in the latex medium, while these tones are considered a staple amongst “Wet Look” fetishists. The material can also be stitched and sewn with greater flexibility than latex: there simply is more design options available to the enterprising young fashionista than with the relatively delicate and inflexible latex material (which is usually molded, glued or carefully stitched depending on the grade and method of construction employed).

The next time you’re shopping online, or taking a stroll to your local fetishwear establishment, perhaps rather than heading straight to the latex department, perhaps your pocketbook and bank account might be less lightened if you decide to try one of these alternatives. At the very least, you’ll have something fun, affordable – and easy to maintain – to add to your collection.

Personally, the one and only time I have ever worn a lycra bodysuit myself I was unfavorably compared to resembling non other than Bip, The Michelin Tire Man. I have a rather generous booty, sad to say – but my experience certainly doesn’t have to be yours.

Shoe Fetish as its finest, elegant and futuristic, simply beautiful

April
2009 | 10:34 am

workscarbonfibreshoe1MARQUIS AMERICA recommends Marloes Shoes, the next century shoes for the elegant and everybody who has an intense fetish for shoes! smiles, all female?

Marloes ten Bhömer’s work consistently aims to challenge generic typologies of women’s shoes through experiments with non-traditional technologies and material techniques. By reinventing the process by which footwear is made, the resulting shoes serve as unique examples of new aesthetic and structural possibilities, while also serving to criticise the conventional status of women’s shoes as cultural objects.

Her research into feet and footwear has resulted in a variety of experimental conceptual pieces, some of which have been developed into technically sound (wearable) shoes, others which are produced solely as sculptural pieces. The existence of both directions within her practice generates a layer to the work that comments on the perception of functionality, and the context within which they sit (in galleries, museums, or in boutiques) challenges the audiences’ preconceptions about the shoe.

worksnoheelsshoeBorn in Duiven, the Netherlands, Marloes ten Bhömer studied product design at the Higher School of Arts Arnhem before receiving an MA in design at the Royal College of Art in London. Marloes currently focuses on innovating footwear. Her cutting edge, distinct shoe designs offer an alternative to existing design languages and typologies. They have a design language that is built on clean lines, materials, and construction techniques that are closer to design and architecture than women’s fashion. They allow women the incredibly rare chance of freedom from conventional style clichés and codes, because they do not conform to the existing codes. Her work has been exhibited in London, Tokyo, Germany, the Netherlands, Zimbabwe, Melbourne and Washington and has been published internationally. She is currently setting up her independent shoe label MARLOESTENBHÖMER ®.

Her work also can be seen at exhibitions around the world. Here some examples from recent exhibitions:

MARQUIS WEEKLY TOY REVIEW EROGENICS FEELDOE

MARQUIS AMERICA toy review with Mistress Darkniis. She knows the toys as no other and we are proud to have her on the blog reviewing toys & accessories!

EROGENICS – FEELDOE

by a lesbian who got sick and tired of straps and buckles came the Feeldoe; rescuing relationships worldwide!

This is the one, the only, the patented original version of the strapless strapon. Made of medical grade silicone it is the only model that allows the wearer to also experience the pleasure. They are available in different girths and lengths, with or without the vibrating bullet.

Beware of the imitation; there are copies of the same design idea that are starting to pop up here and there… Stick to the best; stick to the original.

Yes, this was designed with the lesbian in mind – but 80% of the sales are to heterosexual couples. Ideal for exploring anal play with your man, or in cases where there are erectile dysfunction issues.
feeldoe_slim

In my BDSM community; it is becoming a standard addition to everyone’s toybag because of its versatility. I can use this on my girl, or my boy. Easy enough to slip a condom on it; lube it up, glide it in and it is ready for use. It certainly frees you from the buckles and straps!

The wearer both has the bulb that vibrates and the ridges to pleasure during the ride. It certainly beats the days of the strap on harnesses that were designed with only the receiver in mind. I personally don’t pack but I imagine it would be much more comfortable to hide one of these in your jeans!

Mia has also developed an acrylic version for the boys called the “feelbuck”. This version is anally inserted and of course much more rigid than the silicone version. This is also good for the hetero couple when he needs a rest and she is still good to go!

Many thanks to you Mia for your time and effort – your design has made a lot of people very sated!

Fergie confesses shoe fetish

4|
April
2009 | 10:02 am

58818Fergie has to keep building new closets to house her enormous collection of shoes, but admits she may have to give some of them away when she starts trying for a baby later this year.

Fergie owns over 500 pairs of shoes.

The Black Eyed Peas star – who has just launched her own footwear collection called ‘Fergie’ – is so obsessed with buying new pairs of pumps, heels and sneakers, she has to keep building new storage space.

She said: “I’m a girl, and I love accessories. It’s one of the reasons I have huge closets, and we keep making room in the house for more closets. I don’t like to throw anything away.”

The 34-year-old star may have to think about downscaling her footwear collection – she and husband Josh Duhamel, 36, are planning to try for a baby when she finishes touring.

She said: “I’m not going to get pregnant on the tour because I’m too physical onstage. So after that, we can talk about babies.”

Fergie is not the only celebrity to boast a huge shoe collection.

Megan Fox claims her footwear habit is taking over her room.

She said: “I have upwards of, I would guess, 30 to 50 pairs of dress shoes. But they’re all really amazing! I love Jimmy Choo, and Casadei, and Cavalli. I’ve got pairs and pairs of them in the wardrobe, all over the floor – they’re all over the place!”

Kate Hudson recently admitted she is unable to stop herself from buying fancy footwear.

She said: “I’m a total shopaholic! I’ve tried to stop, but I love clothes and fashion way too much! I probably own more than 400 pairs of shoes. That’s a lot, isn’t it?”

ballet-1020smKeira Knightley is another star unable to control herself when she is near a shoe shop.

She admitted: “If I see a pair of shoes that I adore and they haven’t got them in my size, I still have to have them.”

MARQUIS AMERICA offers the finest Fetish shoes in North America and I am sure Fergie would love our shoes and boots and high heels and extreme fetish shoes as well.  Big smiles, shoes is a big part in the fetish Lifestyle, check out shoes from Marquis America: FETISH SHOES

The Effect of Popular Entertainment on our Extreme Fantasies

    3|
    April
    2009 | 12:05 pm

tn-01241-300x2251It’s ok, we’re all adults here. We can admit it.

We love watching other people victimized in our television shows. We love watching other people raped, tortured and brutalized in our ‘slasher’ flicks. We love reading True Crime novels – knowing we’re safe behind our own four walls and reading about someone else’s harrowing (or even fatal) experiences.

Of course there is a direct correlation between keeping these kinds of “Entertainment” avenues continuously in our ‘Neilson Rating Top Ten Ratings’ and our desire for graphic, violent and exploitive imagery.

csi-third_reichThere is a reason why seven of the top ten watched television shows are crime dramas (CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, CSI: Miami, CSI New York, Without a Trace, NCIS, Law and Order: Special Victims Unit and Law and Order: Criminal Intent). There is a reason why films such as Hostel, Hostel II and Ransom faired quite poorly at the box office – and yet were at or near the top of DVD rentals and sales for months on end. We’re not entirely comfortable “enjoying torture/crime porn” in the company of strangers in movie theatres, but we sure love to watch and salivate over them in the comfort of our own homes.

Spare me your indignant pleas and cries of complete innocence: SM, bondage especially, is rooted in the very idea of non-consensual control of a “villain” over a “damsel or fellow in distress”. All of those that talk about SM being a “lifestyle” (and there is certainly an element of many of us that truly do desire to have – or relinquish – complete control to someone else as the ultimate in sexual expression), surely must realize that even the tiniest element of “capture”, “hostage taking” or so-called “white slavery” still pervades even those “lifestyle” desires.

batgirl_robin_tied_upI do not think I am wrong in stating that for many of us, growing up in the 1960′s and 1970′s especially, we loved seeing Adam West and/or Burt Ward and/or Yvonne Craig tied and gagged to some insidious-yet-ridiculously-slow-to-kill infernal Hero Demise Machine and struggling for an ingenious escape – and feeling somewhat disappointed when they actually managed to do so. We loved seeing Julie Newmar and/or Lee Meriwether (rot in hell, Eartha Kitt!!) purr and seductively growl with masked face and clawed, gloved hands tantalizingly gloating over our superhero victims about to be dashed, slashed, clumped, dumped, or chopped into itty-bitty Batman and sidekick bits.

Naturally, the campy old Batman series was probably the catalyst for many of us into our various forays into tight restrictive bondage. There were undoubtedly others: Dan Tanna (Vegas) was always rescuing some poor damsel in distress … Hawaii Five-O certainly was good for an excellent kidnapping/bondage scene or four during the month and who can ever forget any of an assorted “Quinn Martin Productions” (Barnaby Jones, The FBI, etc.)?

The mainstream media has a dirty little secret: Victimization sells. When was the last time the “Arts and Entertainment Network” really featured a wonderful performance of the Royal Winnipeg Ballet’s Swan Lake or a Metropolitan Opera performance of The Magic Flute rather than any number of Bill Curtis hosted and narrated true crime documentaries?

For me, Truman Capote’s In Cold Blood, the black and white film version and then the book itself, certainly had an effect on my secret desires to become a “criminal” and for nothing else other than for fun – at least as a much, much younger boy. I am sure I’m not alone … if not for that particular piece of modern literature and true crime relating but most certainly for something similar for all of us who are willing to admit …

… that crime … turns us on. Should we give Dishonourable Mentions, perhaps, to Quentin Tarantino’s Reservoir Dogs, or Takashi Miike’s Audition? Surely those films have had some effect?

a-clockwork-orange-001Anthony Burgess wrote an amazing book in the 1960′s. That book had, as its moral, a very simple idea: Age is the cure and the tempering agent for our predatory desires as “young people” (read the British editions of the book which includes the final, important chapter that Stanley Kubrick chose to ignore in his excellent film adaptation). That book, of course, is A Clockwork Orange – and I suspect Anthony Burgess was absolutely correct. Our fear of incarceration, as we grow older, far exceed our desire to prey and we therefore seek out and actively pursue alternative methods of extreme gamesmanship amongst our receptive peers: otherwise known as sadomasochism.

I freely admit I absolutely love dreaming up and playing out extreme and “virtually illegal” forms of “real life crime dramas”. I don’t hide it. We all have secret, dark little places in our minds that we  dare not confide about to another person, and mostly for fear of outright rejection and being judged “perverse” and/or “with psychological issues”.

At least … on systems such as this one, we have a forum to share … to encounter … and even to perhaps arrange … outlets for our twisted little deviancies …

… Which, I think, is far better than actually submitting to the urge to actually go and and really “prey” on the truly innocent … My favourite saying for years has always been this:  Fantasy is delicious. Reality … is prison.
